Lindow Hold Nerve!

Lindow 191 for 6 (46.1 overs) 20 points, beat Marple 189 for 9 (50 overs) 4 points by four wickets

For Marple, Matt Barrow hit 37, Andy Wild 19, Max Fitzgerald 18, Mark Makin 38 and Jack Grundy 29 not out.

All of Lindow’s six bowlers took a wicket, Dan Newton 3 for 38, Sam Battersby 2 for 21, and Isaac Brooks 1 for 15 from ten overs.

For Lindow, Brad Wisnewski 30, Battersby 42, Finn Gavaghan 23, with Rob Herriott, 30 not out, and Ollie James 24 not out sharing a match winning stand of 62* for the seventh wicket. Joe Cash was miserly with 2 for 22, on a day when no batter hit 50 on an excellent surface. Both sides generally bowled with skill and control.

Next Saturday, 10th August Marple visit Urmston,  with a 12 noon start. They drop to fourth in the table.

Marple seconds were blown away for just 95 at Nantwich. Callum Reid top scored with 22, with Joel Greasley 18, Greg Marsland 12 not out and George Clarke 10, the other players in double figures. Nick Birchall with 4 for 35 led the way for Nantwich.

Ollie Silvester, with 55 not out, made light work of the reply, adding 44 with Joe Jordan, 14, and 51 with Jeremy Bentley 17 not out. Marple bowled decently, but the home side were not under pressure. George Bailey 1 for 19.

Marple/Compstall 4th team posted what looked to be a competitive 183 for 2 against Timperley 5ths on Sunday at the MHCG. Dan Cox, 45, Matt Leech 80 not out, Lewis Braddock 28 and Ben Bradley 19 not out.

However, it proved to be way under par as Timpers romped home in just 26 overs, Gopalakrishnan 55, Panjak Misra 61 not out, and Kiran Mogil 43 not out.
